Unfortunately, I was there when the location was having sewage issues. There was a horrible smell of sewage and a “water” leak that was happening in the back room that was spreading onto the show room floor. The staff was doing their best to be positive but it definitely wasn’t a safe environment for them or customers. I was there only an hour and had a headache and felt nauseous. I can only imagine how they felt. They said management was aware of the issue but insisted they stay open. Management should have visited in person before making that decision. I do work in patient care and I understand the concern of shutting down and canceling patients, but this was a situation that should have been shut down for. Upon wearing them to work, I found I could barely see. The prescription Dr. Zier provided was significantly weaker (Left eye: PWR +2.00; Right eye: PWR +1.50) compared to my previous prescription from a year ago (Both eyes: PWR +2.50), which had worked well. Given my age (54), I found it unlikely that my vision had improved so drastically, and the new lenses were ineffective.\n\nFollow-Up Appointment:\nI contacted the store and arranged a follow-up with Dr. Zier to address the issue. From the start, his demeanor was unwelcoming, and his tone was dismissive. When I explained that I couldn’t see with the new contacts and questioned why the prescription was much lower, he responded defensively. I lightheartedly noted that I doubted my eyes had improved without significant changes, like eating carrots, but Dr. Zier seemed unreceptive. He asked, “What do you want?” to which I replied that I simply wanted to see clearly. When I referenced my previous prescription, he accused me of trying to “prescribe myself,” which felt dismissive and unfair. I clarified that another optometrist had prescribed PWR +2.50, which had been effective. Reluctantly, he agreed to revert to my previous prescription and ushered me to the lobby.\n\nStaff Interaction and Second Order:\nThe clerk who handled the reorder was courteous and did not charge me extra, as both boxes of the initial contacts were opened. They assured me that my previous prescription (PWR +2.50 for both eyes) would be ordered. However, when the new contacts arrived, I was shocked to find they were the same incorrect prescription (Left: PWR +2.00; Right: PWR +1.50) as the first order. This error left me without usable contact lenses.\n\nOverall Experience:\nThis experience has left me feeling disrespected, unheard, and violated as a patient. Dr. Zier’s unprofessional attitude and failure to address my concerns, combined with the repeated error in fulfilling the correct prescription, have resulted in wasted time and money. I am now without functional contact lenses and deeply dissatisfied with the care provided. While the staff member who assisted with the reorder was kind, the overall service fell short of basic expectations.
